Revealed: Covid – 19 did not kill my father, Goodman Uwaifo revealed.

Osaretin Goodman Uwaifo, son of the late music legend Sir Victor Uwaifo, debunked the rumors making rounds that his father died as a result of complications from Corona Virus.

According to him, Sir Victor died of Pneumonia and not Covid 19.

“I want to use this opportunity to clear this misinformation. We have heard rumours going round that our father, Sir Victor Uwaifo died of Covid 19. It is not true.” He said.

According to him, his father died from Pneumonia.

“He died of Pneumonia and not Covid – 19. He was rushed to the hospital on Friday, and passed on Saturday.”

Prof. Victor Uwaifo, a renowned musician, lecturer, sculptor, poet, musical instrument inventor died on Saturday, August 28 after a brief illness. He was 80 years.

The news of his demise was first announced by Uwaifo Peter de Rock, one of his sons. He broke the news on his facebook account.

“Daddy whyyyyyyyyyy? Why did you leave us? Prof Sir Victor Uwaifo has gone to rest.

Black Saturday for me nooow. “One week now after collaborating with me.” He wrote.

Sir Victor was a man of many talents. He was one of the few musicians who played a number of musical instruments. The guitar being his favourite. He played it with such dexterity.

In March, he was so full of life when he celebrated his 80th birthday. His dance moves on the said occasion was quite energetic for his age.

He was a fashionable man too. He loves to dress up and look good.

The “Joromi” crooner also known as “Guitar boy” is not just a music legend in Nigeria, but also in Africa and all over the world.

Sir Victor’s is said to be the most educated and versed musician in Nigeria to have been received a national honour. In 1983, he received the honour of Member of the order of the Niger, MON.

He was the first Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism in Nigeria.

He was the first Nigerian and African to win Gold Disc record in 1965 with his hit song “Joromi”. He also won seven other Golden disc in his life time.

In 2016, he was inducted into the Grammy Award Museum, Los Angeles, USA.

He won Silver bird’s Man of the year in 2018.

In 2018, the Association of Nigerian Musicologist honoured him with award for his leadership and outstanding musical performance.

No doubt, the Nigerian entertainment industry has lost an icon of international repute. He will be greatly missed.
