Something happened to Notting Hill, Europe’s loudest street party after 54 yrs

It was Europe’s loudest street party for 54 years. But the Notting Hill carnival of 2020 took its loudness from the streets to online.

The organisers decided to take the party online following the cancellation of this years event. They thought that it would be a good way of relieving tension created by the novel Corona virus.

Nothing Hill carnival is an annual historic event held every last weekend of August in London ; August bank holiday, Monday and the preceding Sunday.

The carnival is believed to be the loudest street party in London. And it is held to celebrate her African Caribbean communities and culture.

Online guests had a number of choices. Performances from King Tubby’s, Rampage and Volcana as well as over 12 Esteel bands, carnival performers, dancehall artists, Disc jockeys etc.were streamed live.

One of such Djs is the very famous Richmond Kesse of the Yabba Funk band.

According to Richmond in an interview on Arise news, it was important for the event to hold considering the social gathering situation in the country. He said it is a very good way to unwind and help the Notting Hill carnival lovers catch fun.

Notting Hill’s carnival executive director, Matthew Phillip said though the event was held online, the celebration of the Black Bristish cultural heritage is important, especially in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Though, the streets of West London was empty, a few lone dancers were seen wearing different colourful costumes dancing along the traditional procession route.

Juliana Campos, Pilates instructor and Djorn Fevrier are examples of lone dancers who adorned themselves in colourful costumes to celebrate the historic event.

One of the highlights of the Notting Hill carnival was the numerous beautiful costumes displayed.

This was not left out in this years event. All the interesting and colourful costumes were presented by 30 different traditional street performance groups.
