Ive Jones is the 17year old black female graduate of Apex Friendship High School, North Carolina, United States. She got acceptance letters into 45 universities with a $4million (N1.5 billion) in full academic scholarship.
Jones chose Princeton University, where she wants to major in Global Health. This is a passion she has nursed from as early in life.
She’s always had an interest in the health sector and has focused most of her energy thus far on making an impact there.
At 11 years old, she organized a fundraising campaign to help African children orphaned as a result of the Ebola pandemic. With initial goal of $4,000, Jones raised nearly $30,000.
She also organised a health conference in Raleigh, North Carolina, in 2019 to encourage young women and people of color to pursue careers in STEM. The term stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
It is a term used to group together these academic disciplines. This term is typically used when addressing education policy and curriculum choices in schools to improve competitiveness in science and technology development.

Akatarian learnt that young Jones was motivated by other black kids’ accomplishments. And that influenced her to get to where is she is today.
Ive has settled on Princeton University where she plans to major in Global Health on a full scholarship.
Her mother, Catherine Jones, who’s from West Africa, said she’s just so proud of her daughter.
”I’m immensely proud of her. She’s just a hardworking person. [Graduation] was a moment we’ve looked forward to,” Catherine Jones said.
In spite of the impact of the dreaded coronavirus pandemic, Catherine said “in everything you have to find gratitude. And you know, at the end of the day we’ll still get to celebrate”.
Ive Jones is still hoping that she can celebrate with her class when the global pandemic is over.
The novel coronavirus pandemic has had huge impact on global education and economy. But Jones still have to celebrate. Her accomplishment is more than impressive.
