He stumbled three times and on the third time he dropped to a knee and took a moment to collect himself before he continued and gave a salute before entering the aircraft.
But the White House has waved off any concerns about the President’s well being.
“I know folks have seen that President Biden slipped on his way up the stairs to AF1, but I’m happy to report that he is just fine and did not even require any attention from the medical team who travels with him.
“Nothing more than a misstep on the stairs,” White House communications director Kate Bedingfield tweeted on Friday.
Biden is 78, and appear frail most of the time. Many have raised concerns about his health, which many attribute to the reason why he has been unable to schedule a State of the Union Address up till this time.
White House Aide gave an indication that his weak physical stamina may have caused the prevailing wind to knock him off balance.
“It was very windy. I almost fell coming up the steps myself. He is doing 100 percent,” Deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters aboard the plane.
Biden wore a walking boot for several weeks during the transition after x-rays revealed a “hairline fracture” in his foot. Biden said he suffered the injury after slipping on a bathroom mat when one of his dogs approached him.
