Local artists honored the memory of one of Anderson’s finest, late Chadwick Bozeman, in South Carolina last Thursday. Portraits depict his life as a teenage basketball player, his red carpet moment as well as king T’Challa of “Wakanda”.

Organized by Herman Keith Jr, and sponsored by the city, the exhibition featured nearly 20 local artists. They displayed different portraits of the “Black Panther” superhero.

Bozeman Chadwick’s portrait where he was seen playing basketball in his high school as reported by Associated Press will be given to the mayor of the city. The portrait is to be displayed in the late star’s Alma mater, T. L. Hanna high school.

The artworks were displayed on digital prints adhered to walls of the Wren Pavilion, the venue of the exhibition.

The city hopes to keep the exhibition open for at least a year.

Joey Whitenart is one of the artists at the exhibition. He told the Associated Press that he started painting the portraits of the late star a few hours after his demise was made public.

“The feeling behind it, words can’t even explain, even the way we bring it all together in different styles, it was just something everyone had to see,” He said.

Another local artist Troleum Dawson, a colon cancer survivor, said the project has brought the community closer.

The exhibition organizer, Herman Keith Jnr told Associated Press that Boseman’s life is a strong message to kids living in small towns and cities.

“The impact that he had on the world coming from the same place that we come from, under some of the same situations and conditions that we come from and to see that he was able to affect the world the way that he did, it was very encouraging”.

Chadwick Boseman was born on November 29th, 1976. He lost the battle to colon cancer on August 28th, 2020 in Los Angeles, California.

He was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2016. Despite his illness, Chadwick continued to pursue his dreams. He shot movies in-between numerous surgeries and chemotherapy sections.

“He’s showing us that no matter what you’re going through, whatever you’re fighting through if you love what you love, don’t ever give up on your dream”. Whitenart told Associated Press.

His passion and determination saw him through and eventually brought him to line light before his demise. He is not just a movie superhero, he is a real-life hero that can never be forgotten.
